19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE VICTORIAN TIGER OAK OFFICE DESK. Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients. We're delighted to offer for sale this absolutely wonderful antique Victorian tiger oak desk. A few months ago we had a number of great flat top desks, roll top desks, & oak swivel chairs. With the major influx of people working from home we we're picked clean of all of our desks, desk chairs & file cabinets. We've passed on a number of roll tops and paneled desks that we didn't feel were good enough to offer to our clients. We do want to replenish our stock but we're happy to hold out for only the best examples in the best condition. This is especially nice in spatially restrictive cities like Boston where a lot of important homes can't accommodate a 5 foot desk that doesn't break down.
All the drawers actuate with ease and the desk is in fantastic condition finished in a perfect amber oak color. We couldn't locate a makers mark on the desk but considering the exceptional stock & usage of the bold tiger grain & nice panel lay out this was clearly made by a top tier cabinet shop such as Derby or Globe Wernicke. Every side & panel has the best quality of quarter sawn oak with stunning rays & flecks present throughout and the absolute best & boldest reserved for the top.
The desk measures 60" (5 FT) wide x 34" deep x 30 1/2 tall. This has a wider than most kneehole measuring 24" wide x 24" tall. We are a wholly owned family business in our third decade of continuous operation.
We have a large inventory of fine antiques ranging from Early American, Federal, Chippendale, Empire, Centennial, Victorian, 20th Century custom mahogany, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern antique furniture along with decorative arts from across the globe.
