Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional 19th century antique Victorian highly carved tiger oak hall tree. We've been over every inch of the piece and couldn't find a makers mark but this was clearly made in a top level cabinet shop. During the Victorian period new advances in machinery led to easier means of furniture production. Or the first time in American history a plethora of different designs for every occasion were available to more families of modest means. The lowest tier of Victorian furniture has graceful lines but not much embellishment aside from a nice cut of walnut or a marble top on a table. As you progress up the line, on mid tier furniture you'd expect a little more decoration like a floral carved table apron or carved crest. Top tier cabinet shops were still commissioned to create hand made, meticulously crafted, luxury goods as they followed in the footsteps of America's golden age of cabinetry. RJ Horner & co was founded in New York City in 1886 & is best known for their impressive figural carvings including lions, gargoyles, griffins, & other designs.

This monumental hall tree is crafted from quarter sawn white oak with bold rays & flecks present in the grain. This hall tree has so much going on. Decoratively with wonderfully carved panels w/ egg & dart molding, fluted columns, carved lion paw feet, brass coat hooks, carved cornice, beveled glass mirror & superb carved lion / gargoyle arms. The hall tree is in fantastic condition with our only notes being the slight silvering loss on the mirror.

The hall tree measures 52 1/4" wide x 21" deep x 75 1/2 tall. The seat measures 41" wide x 18 1/2" deep with a seat height of 18. The mirror measures 39" wide x 22 3/4" tall. We are a wholly owned family business in our third decade of continuous operation. We have a large inventory of fine antiques ranging from Early American, Federal, Chippendale, Empire, Centennial, Victorian, 20th Century custom mahogany, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern antique furniture along with decorative arts from across the globe.

All the items we offer to the general public are high quality estate pieces. We do not offer goods with significant flaws or defects.

We completely avoid items with issues. You can expect the items we sell to have reasonable wear and tear.

Due to the large volume of goods we deal in we cannot describe items in minutia. We do our best to give you an accurate condition report in our description of the items. We have expert woodworkers and re-finishers on staff to service any piece of furniture we offer. We represent all merchandise in absolute good faith and to the very best of our ability. We deliver within a 250 mile range of zip code 01105 for a low cost flat rate. We specialize in New York City and Boston deliveries at extremely reasonable rates. We perform this service without the cost of labor as an appreciation for your patronage. This and our volume shippers discount creates a substantial lower cost for you. They are not furniture movers who bring the items into your home.

We can get you special services in certain cases, but you are responsible for telling us you require them and for the extra cost of these services, if you instruct our shippers to provide services beyond curbside deliveries. We are responsible for any additional services and charged for these services.

Again the process is all designed to protect your investment and is an option offered for your protection. We dont like to send nice people off with things tied to roof racks.
