Fresh restoration from our shop. 1911 Yawman Erbe, Rochester NY, Stacking Lateral File Cabinet that is narrow (17 deep) profile. There are 3 stacks in the unit which also includes the original top and base. There are 2 lateral file drawers and a document cabinet that holds 7 document drawers. These drawers would be excellent for Documents, Jewelry, Stamps or whatever you collect.
Cabinets are constructed of solid quarter-sawn or tiger oak solids and veneers. The entire unit has been disassembled, hand stripped and correctly refinished and this finish should last a life time without darkening or fading. The unit was in very good condition prior to disassembly and had never been painted, vermin or insect damaged, mildewed, and the top has no potted plant syndrome.
There are no musty paper smells and the cabinet has never been stored in a barn or basement. All of the hardware is original, including the drawer slides which all operate exactly as they should. The exterior hardware is solid and stamped brass and has been polished and lacquered. One of the document drawers does have a (very close but not exact) matching replacement pull.
There have been a couple of re-glues to the veneer on the back which are no longer detectable and will not show up in the photos. One of the file drawers has a small veneer patch on the lower left bottom corner which will probably not show up in the photos. There is a small strip of missing veneer on the lid, that was not worthy of repair, but we try out best point everything out. Measurements: The assembled 5 section cabinet (base, lid, 3 stack sections) measures 47 3/4" tall x 16 1/2" wide x 17 deep. The 7 document drawers measure 14" wide x 14 7/8" x 3/4 deep usable. The interior of the lateral file drawers measure 12" deep front to back, 10" tall and 10 1/4 wide. The side wall of the file drawers is the standard 6 1/2 tall. Paper labels have been printed for the bin pulls that are not original.
The combined weight of the cabinets, base and lid is about 120 pounds. All of the copper patinated hardware slides appear to be operating correctly and have been buffed out. Please enlarge the photos as they are part of the description.
