Rare! Antq Globe Wernicke Double Wide Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak Barrister Bookcase

  
Beautiful circa 1915 quarter-sawn tiger oak Mission style barrister bookcase from Globe Wernicke, generally recognized as the #1 name in antique barrister bookcases. There is tiger oak on every exterior surface that you would normally see. The top, the sides, the door frames, and the base all have the vivid tiger stripes that exemplify quarter sawn oak. The number grading on the label is 299 1/2 designating quarter-sawn oak.

Unlike the metal banding that is usually found on these early Globe Wernicke bookcases this bookcase has a raised 1/4 wood lip feature at the bottom edge of each side section. Altogether there are 5 pieces.

The base, three different size glass door sections and the top, or cap. This bookcase is very versatile with three different height sections. The bottom section is #2312 meaning a 12" tall section, followed by the middle section being #2310 or 10" tall section and the top stack is #2308 for an 8 tall section. You can store a wide size range of books or collectibles. All of the sections are 9 1/2 deep inside. This bookcase has the metal scissors or equalizers which make opening and closing the doors a smooth operation. Overall this bookcase is 50 1/2" wide, 50 1/2" tall and 11 1/4 deep. Please make sure you take a look at my picture of the "back" of this bookcase. The back looks as if it left the factory yesterday! You can see the matching color of the wood that all these sections have been together their entire existence.
