The Fred Macey Furniture company was founded in the final years of the 19th century and furnished countless American offices & homes until they eventually closed in 1940. The bookcase is made from quarter sawn white oak (tiger oak) that was abundant in the Grand Rapids region. This particular example was made with a very favorable wood stock with nice amber rays & flecks present in the grain. The bookcase is in exceptional condition and we really enjoy the subtle bead work along the top edge.
All three sections actuate with ease and operate on a wheel & cog track system. The bottom section interior has 32" of useable width x 9 1/2" of useable depth x 12 of useable height. The middle and top section are the same size with useable dimensions of 32" wide x 8" deep x 9 1/2 tall. The bookcase measures 34" wide x 12 1/2" deep x 48 tall overall. We are a wholly owned family business in our third decade of continuous operation.
