19th century antique French dining table or Library Table. Made of Tiger and solid Oak and adorned with hand carved and turned table frame, legs and spindles. This table is in very good condition.
The table top is solid Tiger Oak and has been refinished, but not done to completely erase the the 150+/- years of use. There is one scratch as appears in the photos of the top, as well as some other small imperfections, but this is not a new table, and the flaws reflect that. Other flaws due to age include some drying cracks in the oak turned and hand-carved legs, and dinged table top corners and edges. This table is beautiful as it sits, or the top could be restored to remove the age marks. This is an expandable table as the photos show.
A furniture maker could make leaves to match, as when open, the table base sides remain stationary. Only the top and ends move. This table could also be used as a formal Library table. At one time, a professional added period ball type feet to the bottom of the 6 legs, probably to make more modern chairs fit more comfortably while dining. This listing is for just the table, there are no matching chairs.
