20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE ARTS & CRAFTS TIGER OAK L & JG STICKLEY ARM CHAIR WITH LEATHER SEAT MODEL # 810. Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.

Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this fantastic early 20th century antique Arts & Crafts L & JG Stickley arm chair. The chair has a very comfortable large spring seat with a newer piece of thick reddish brown colored leather. The chair has 5 vertical splats on the back and shaped paddle arms. We couldn't locate a makers mark but are certain this is a Stickley chair.

Among the Stickley family there were 5 brothers all involved in the furniture trade. Leopold & John George partnered after leaving the Stickley Bros Company to form L & JG Stickley. L & JG Stickley was a prolific company and their Arts & Crafts furniture is highly collectible. A near identical chair is pictured in model #810 and we've attached a photo of their original catalog to this listing for reference.

The chair in the catalog shows an open arm chair with the same measurements the only difference being the spacing of the back splats & that this chair has two slats underneath the arm. The chair has an old State of Connecticut label that we've seen on a few file cabinets and desks that were state owned. To the left of the label written in pencil is "CT Military Dept DO".

The chair is in excellent condition with our only notes being minor surface wear and a very small hole in the leather seat. The chair is branded SA underneath the seat and there are remnants of an old blue oval paper label. The Stickley Brothers were in Grand Rapids for some time & we've seen similar designed labels from other Grand Rapids companies but this one had us scratching our heads. Although Gustav's work commands a higher price in today's market, Leopold & John George were more successful as business men and produced more furniture at a higher price point. The chair measures 28" wide arm to arm x 20" deep at the base (23" including back curve) x 39" tall with a seat height of 20.

We are a wholly owned family business in our third decade of continuous operation. We have a large inventory of fine antiques ranging from Early American, Federal, Chippendale, Empire, Centennial, Victorian, 20th Century custom mahogany, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern antique furniture along with decorative arts from across the globe. All the items we offer to the general public are high quality estate pieces. We do not offer goods with significant flaws or defects. We completely avoid items with issues.

You can expect the items we sell to have reasonable wear and tear. Due to the large volume of goods we deal in we cannot describe items in minutia.

We do our best to give you an accurate condition report in our description of the items. We have expert woodworkers and re-finishers on staff to service any piece of furniture we offer. We represent all merchandise in absolute good faith and to the very best of our ability. If you would like to find out about any number of our services, including appraisals and restoration, please ask us about our website for more information. We deliver within a 250 mile range of zip code 01105 for a low cost flat rate.

We specialize in New York City and Boston deliveries at extremely reasonable rates. We perform this service without the cost of labor as an appreciation for your patronage. This and our "volume shippers" discount creates a substantial lower cost for you. They are not furniture movers who bring the items into your home.

We can get you special services in certain cases, but you are responsible for telling us you require them and for the extra cost of these services, if you instruct our shippers to provide services beyond curbside deliveries. We are responsible for any additional services and charged for these services.

Again the process is all designed to protect your investment and is an option offered for your protection. We don't like to send nice people off with things tied to roof racks. We are not a storage facility. We are happy to hold your items for a reasonable pre-agreed upon period.

We have a zero tolerance policy for non-paying buyers. Any offer we accept is a binding sale and subject to the conditions herein. Massachusetts General Law applies to all sales. We accept all major credit cards and are delighted to answer any questions that you may have or provide services you may need.
