American Victorian Set of 10 Tiger Oak Dining Kitchen Chairs Restored 1900s. We are proud to offer an extremely rare and impressive estate furniture. Beautiful set of 10 American Victorian Tiger oak (sometimes called quarter sawn oak) chairs. The arch topped backs have a cane insert. The legs are called either baluster or cup and cover shaped.

Floral tapestry fabric with roses which has rose, green, and tan colors. Height is about 41 5/8 inch. Width is about 18 3/4 inch. Depth is about 19 5/8. Seat height is about 19 3/4 inch.

They have been completely professionally restored. Re-gluing involved taking each chair completely apart and using a resin glue in the reassembly process.

The refinishing was done by hand stripping and hand sanding. The stain was an oil base stain this puts moisture back into the wood but requires more additional drying time than solvent based stains. Next a series of sealers and lacquers were applied with hand sanding between the layers. The final coat is a durable bar-top lacquer. Chairs require some of the most labor intensive restoration work of any antique items.

You can see the many years of honest wear and use that occurred before restoration. However, we chose to leave these details that are part of the character that makes antiques special. Extremely beautiful and very well made items. The restoration work was done about 10 years ago. Previously re-glued, refinished, and reupholstered.

Any prior damage was repaired. Always a question of how far to take restoration work. We believe in making the items beautiful and usable without completely erasing its age.
