Superb Antique 1890s Large Tiger Oak and Brass Silver Ware Flatware Chest. This is a beautiful Victorian era solid tiger oak , three compartment silverware chest with lift up lid and velvet lined drawers. Amazing quality with the carved flip out side pieces that receive brass pins from the under side of the lid to lock the drawers. All the beautiful handles are recessed and are flush with the oak wood. The brass fittings , hinges, pins, and handles are all original. It appears the brass plate on the lid may have been replaced.

The quality of this piece is remarkable. Patent number is under the lid. The construction is cabinet makers quality and has a Tiffany quality about it. The construction is amazing as seen in my photo of the lovely cabinet work.

The velvet lining is original. Condition is remarkable for an antique chest. Tiger oak wood shows beautifully with original finish. Wood is in great shape with a couple minor dings from normal wear. All brass fittings are very nice with nice patina. The original velvet lining in the drawers for the cutlery is in good shape with NO tears or rips just marks where the silver ware was resting. The cutlery compartments are also velvet covered wood and these compartments bear a separate patent number. The lid lifts very nicely with no movement and drawers slide nicely.

Original felt on bottom of chest shows wear and may need a new piece of felt. Measures 19" long by 12" deep by 9 tall.
