Henry Diven passed away in 1908 and in the Chemung County, New York business directory of 1910 there was no longer any mention of this Company. This bookcase is made almost entirely of fumed, dark, quarter-sawn tiger oak. All of the other maker's of barrister bookcase such as Globe Wernicke, Macey, Hale, Lundstrom, etc. Each end of the frame on this bookcase is an additional 1 thick.
The sides of this bookcase are paneled on the inside as well as the outside. This bookcase is 80 3/4" tall, 36" wide and 11 1/2 deep not including the six original door pulls. The interior depths of all of the book sections are 9 3/4 deep inside the closed doors. It comes with an extra top cap.I think this was originally two 3 stack bookcases but over the years one base was lost. This stacking bookcase is comprised of 9 pieces. We start at the bottom with the base unit followed by two, 11" tall book sections, followed by four 9" tall book sections with the top cap or crown.
All of the doors lift and slide back into the case to access the books. All of the doors operate smoothly. As stated before there is an additional top cap included.
This bookcase is available for local pick-up. I have had multiple customers return for more bookcases. This item is in the category "Antiques\Furniture\Bookcases". The seller is "wunkles" and is located in this country: US.This item can be shipped to United States.
