PROVENANCE This one-of-a-kind desk was part of the estate of my favorite teacher, a world traveler from New Castle, Indiana. He was my Social Studies teacher in 1967; soon after a recent return from Peace Corps service Africa.

He was an avid traveler and visited a total of 78 countries on 6 continents, as well as 49 of the 50 states. He also authored four books chronicling his adventures: My Peace Corps Experience, The Mini Sojourns, Miscellaneous Reflections, and The Big Trip. In addition to continual service to the community, Mr. Scott was multitalented; acting in and directing civic theater, restoring vintage Volkswagens, running marathons including the NYC Marathon, and was an outstanding golfer. On the furniture side, he collected and restored antique Hoosier Cabinets. His Arts & Crafts style home was full of distinctive antique furniture such as the desk listed here.
