Excellent tiger oak Victorian secretary desk/bookcase dating to 1900. Never painted, musty, insect, water damaged or stored in a barn or basement. This cabinet has been refinished at some point in time and is probably as nice as you will find. All original brass hardware and locks.
There is an original brass working key that operates the bookcase doors. Silver on shaped beveled mirror is extremely good for its 120 years. Carved griffins and lions paw front feet.
There are no gouges or chips on the wood and I see no evidence of repairs on the cabinet. Dovetailed drawers all operate as they should and have their original drawer bottoms. There is a replacement set of rolling casters that are safe for any hard floor surface. The original shelf is in the bookcase section and the doors operate properly.Glass in cabinet doors may or may not be the original. Drop down desk lid operates properly, is square and has no issues. The paneled back of the cabinet is the original.
Cabinet measures 72" tall x 33" wide x 14 deep. Weight is about 100 pounds. This is a 120+ year old desk that has been professionally refinished at some point in the past. The desk is not brand new or does it pretend to be. There may be a slight blemish or 2 beneath the refinish, but having said that, it is an outstanding, undamaged piece of Victorian furniture. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or request specific photos and I will respond honestly and promptly.
