Classic Antique Western Electric Picture Frame Tiger Oak Crank Wall Telephone. WE Model 317 N, 5 Bar Magneto Model 48A, Pat July 17, 1894, 250W Transmitter. Will add charm to any antiqued kitchen, room, vintage home or other. The oak cabinet itself is in very good condition with sharp Tiger Oak grain that really adds to it's appeal. There are a few burn marks from cigarettes & stains from other from over the years, but they really do not effect it's look.

We sell a lot of old phones & I would rate the oak cabinet itself at a 7.5 to 8 on condition as it is really pretty nice. The brass side plate where crank handle enters cabinet needs 2 little screws or tacks to hold it in place, but it does not interfere with crank as it is just a cover plate. The metal elements like the voice receiver & brass bells do have some visible wear as shown in pictures but they still look pretty decent. The crank handle turns easily & the bells ring rather loudly (watch video when available), so the kids & grandkids will love it, at least mine do. There are some loose wires inside cabinet including one to the bells sensor from magneto that would need to be soldered properly. A few are disconnected as well.

Also, the 250W Transmitter & plastic mouth piece need some attention it appears. We took as many pictures as we could to assist buyers. The Bakelite voice receiver (ear piece) case has some dings to the screw on cap but those can be found online & the cord is not connected within the cabinet it says Kellogg S.

Co on the base of receiver. The diaphragm & internal parts inside ear piece seem ok. The picture frame front was discontinued after 1910. We did not try to clean the interior mechanicals or other, other than a simple dusting and quick wipe of the brass parts.

We tried to photograph as best we could, but sometimes color varies by room lighting or whether camera flash engages or not. We noticed video was a little darker than pictures, actual color may fall in between. Let us know if you have other questions.
