Arts & Crafts Victorian Antique Nightstand Parlor Table Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak
A RARE & GORGEOUS LOOKING TIGER OAK PARLOR SIDE TABLE. FULLY RESTORED TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL. THIS TABLE IS RARE & VERY UNUSUAL FOR MANY REASONS. The overall design is very artistic & well proportioned. The trim details are rare & outstanding. The leg shape & feet ends are very rare. The shape of the lower shelf & tge fact it has a lower shelf is rather rare. The hand carved leaves on all four sides is spectacular. Perfect in any room of your home or office. Perhaps you will love this beautiful antique as much as I do! Height of lower shelf from floor. Space between lower shelf & top. RESTORATION: I restored this to the highest level possible, it had a previous poor attempt at some restoration to strengthen its loose joints such as nails put in the show sides & a weak attempt to improve the finish, there were some broken off pieces etc! However, the second I laid eyes on this gem of a table I knew it would look spectacular when restored to exhibition quality! I can just gaze at this table & it brings great delight! It was beautifully designed & just pleases the eye because it is a work of art! I give high praise to the original creator! It was a joy to meticulously restore this table to a full glory! I installed metal glides on the tips of tge legs to protect the wood from damage. The tiger/quarter sawn oak is top of tge line. I chose to stain this a bit darker than the usual golden oaks, I then restored the finish with many, many coats of hand rubbed laquer bringing out all the patina & showcasing the rich grains & protecting the wood all at the same time. You can still feel the rich textures of the oak quarter sawn grains as you rub your hands across the silky finish. You will need to unscrew the wood lid to access this great table! An easy task you just need a number 2 Phillips (medium) screwdriver to remove all the screws in the lid.
