C1870 HUGE Vintage Amberg KILLER TIGER OAK Antique Rolltop Office File Cabinet

  

Please read my entire description. This is a stunningly beautiful rare 1870's KILLER tiger oak Amberg double rolltop cabinet.

It is huge at 60 inches wide, 47 inches high and 16.75 inches deep. There are 36 drawers, 18 on both the left and right side. But, please note the two following important details. The file is located on Staten Island NY, zip 10314. When I moved to this house about eight years ago the movers dropped the right side about 6 inches to the floor.

It is very heavy and the right side slipped out of one of the movers hands. When the bottom right side of the cabinet fell, some of the right side piece's separated. Nothing broke but some of the wood pieces separated. At that time, I pushed the pieces back into place and continued to use the cabinet. It is where I have kept a very large screen TV on top since then.

In addition although the entire roll on both sides is there, the original cloth that holds the roll together has aged and some pieces of the roll have separated and need to be re-clothed. This is very common with rolls of this age. This is unrelated to the drop, it is due to age. This cabinet is approximately 150+ years old. There is also no back. These cabinets were made to be placed against a wall so the back was a simple plain piece of wood, but it is not there.

In my opinion, the right home for this very rare and special piece is with someone who will restore it. As you can see by the photos, it is totally original, beautifully crafted and a very high end quality piece with a beautiful golden oak tone. I would love to see it go to someone who will.
