VERY LARGE ORIGINAL tiger oak, quarter sawn, oak antique frame. The frame measures approximately 24 1/4 x 20 1/4.

I have been collecting antique frames form many, many years and this is one of the nicest quarter sawn oak frame I have ever seen. It is solid, and in good shape.

The frame is approximatelly 3 wide, with an absolutely beautiful grain. The beading has a few dings, not bad for over 100 years old. The frame is clean, beautiful grain, see photos. The frame is somewhat raised at the edge, difficult to see in the photos, but it is a bit thicker on the outside edge compared to the inner edge.

This frame is a lovely original work of art, by itself. Ready to use for a family photo or special art. This is not a flimsy oak frame or made of particle board. It is beautiful tiger oak, made in the USA around 1900.

This frame is SOLID and in great shape for its age, and they are gettting SO difficult to find. I found this frame one of my annual trips to Brimfield MA Antique Show.

I added two additional photos in response to some recent questions. Are all four corners crisp? I added an additional photo of the corner. The four corner are in comparable condition to this photo. The frame is probably 120 years old.

Oak is solid and strong, but it isn't steel. Was the beading added to the frame? Honestly I don't know for certain, but the beading piece is old. I took a close up photo of the frame back to show that the beading wood piece was "shimmed".

If it was a recent addition, I believe they would have just glued the bead work in place, WHY bother with custom shims? Also it is a relatively soft wood bead backing. As I mentioned, the beading has some dings and some missing pieces that you can see IF your look closely.

I can't say for certain, the frame is circa 1900-ish. I like the look of the finish, and the photos are a good likeness.

I bought several from a dealer who had exclusively odd stuff from MA estate sales. I will be listing more antique or vintage items over the coming days, so please check back often. I just read that the price of lumber has increased 300% in the last year, and you can't even find quarter sawn oak anywhere regardless of price. Items today are made in China and they are some sort of composite material and they charge a fortune. I price my items fairly, take several photos, and try to show the items as best I can.
