Wonderful American tall column fireplace mantel. The wood is outstanding tiger oak. Each beefy column is topped by a capital design.

Nice carvings detail on the 2 shelves and around the mirror. This is an original piece not a later reproduction which has been re-glued & refinished. We find since fireplace mantels are near a fire and get the draft from the chimney they usually need to be re-glued after 100 + years. It dates from the 1890s to early 1900s. This has a nice large fireplace opening to be adaptable to modern construction.

Small oak "wings" were added. This is how they become adjustable in width. You can use it the way it is, take of the wings for a little less wide, or add additional oak flat pieces to the sides to make it wider.

It was professionally refinished about 5 to 10 years ago. The wear is normal and appropriate to an item of this age. Small minor tack hole which is fairly hidden by the column is photographed. We refinish our items so they do show that it is an antique and not perfect. There are reflections in the photographs.
