Vintage Country French Tiger Oak Bed with Floral & Shell Carving. Amazingly beautiful Country French Bed.

Wonderful fine and ornate carving decorates this set with a shell motif on top combined with a floral flair and curli-cue details. The quality of this set is outstanding as demonstrated in both decorative design and workmanship quality. The quality is outstanding with beveled wood panels, cabriole legs with extra carvings on the knees, and wonderful tiger oak grain pattern. The bed is particularly beautiful. It is oversized compared to most antique beds. It is the width of a queen but not the true length. Could have a mattress custom made. Many are using the foam mattresses which are easier to cut down to size. However, the headboard and footboard could fairly easily be attached to a metal Hollywood bedframe for a true queen. Just do not use the wood rails. Bed dimensions: Headboard height is 46 1/4 inch. Footboard height is 31 1/2 inch. Headboard and footboard width is 64 1/2 at the widest point which is the feet. Assembled the interior dimensions are 77 1/4 inch long by 61 inch wide.

In comparison modern queen sized bed. Would be 80 inch long by 60 in wide.

This is an original antique piece that has been restored and not a later reproductions. Made probably in the 1930s when the earlier styles were reintroduced and labor for extremely high quality workmanship was still inexpensive. This style with slight variations has been made made and been popular for hundreds of years. It is in fact a vintage set. Those items are in the last photograph, but are not included in this price.
