The Limbert Furniture Company was founded by Charles Limbert, an American furniture designer born in Pennsylvania in 1854. The son of a furniture dealer and cabinet maker and a contemporary of Arts and Crafts pioneer Gustav Stickley. Limbert became one of the most memorable and significant figures of the Arts and Crafts movement in his own right. Limbert pieces have become highly desirable with mission and arts & crafts collectors. He expressed high standards in his production techniques, which has made many of his items stand the true test of time.
It is an extremely well made item and comfortable with the slightly rounded back. Height at back - 43 ¼ inch. Height at arms - 27 ½ inch.
Width at arms - 25 1/2 inch. Width at upper back - 19 inch. Width at lower back - 18 inch, and.This is an original piece not a later reproduction. It dates from the early 1900's. It has been previously restored by regluing and refinishing. The wear is normal and appropriate to an item of this age.
